Drive, Drop and Donate
Safeway and KATU are partnering up to help the Portland Schools Foundation keep kids fed and focused on learning.
February 11th-14th, you can Drive, Drop and Donate. Drive to Safeway, drop off food and donate to help kids stay alert in school.
In Portland and Multnomah County, 45,000 students qualify for free or reduced price meals – that accounts for half of all local students. (Source: Oregon Department of Education). The health and well-being of children can significantly affect achievement in the classroom. A balanced diet can improve problem-solving skills, test scores, and school attendance rates. Even moderate under nutrition can have lasting effects on children’s cognitive development and school performance.
