Carl Click
Carl Click joined KATU in 2005 after 22 years in the Portland television market covering news and sports.
Carl is a native of Vancouver, WA, and still lives in his hometown with his wife. He has two grown children.
Carl's work has earned him several Emmy nominations. He's won reporting awards from the Associated Press, Society of Professional Journalists, and the Radio and Television News Director Association.
He was inducted into the Clark County Hall of Fame in 2008.
Carl studied broadcast journalism at Washington State University and was awarded the school's prestigious Edward R. Murrow award.
Upon graduation in 1983, he went to work in Portland TV as a sports reporter. In 1989 he switched to news and feature reporting, and has anchored local newscasts since 1993.
Carl has also been the voice of high school sports in Vancouver since 1994. Each fall, high school sports fans can hear Carl's play-by-play of high school football playoff games from around the state. And every March, he announces high school basketball games at the state tournament back to Clark County.
Away from the newsroom Carl volunteers for many community activities. He is the chairman of the Vancouver School District’s Citizen's Committee for Good Schools. He's coached youth baseball and soccer, including a 13-year old girls state championship soccer team in 2002. He has served on the Board of Directors for Salmon Creek Little League, and the WSYSA Board of Directors for Southwest Washington youth soccer.
In his spare time, Carl enjoys playing golf, coaching high school basketball and tennis, and painting watercolors.
