Meghan Kalkstein is excited to be a part of the KATU news team and to call Portland home. She is no stranger to Oregon though, living and reporting in Eugene and Roseburg before moving to Portland in September 2008.

Meghan’s hometown is Oakland, Calif. She received her undergraduate degree in communications at UC Davis, and her master’s degree in broadcast journalism at Boston University. Then then came back to the West Coast, where she worked at the television stations KPIC in Roseburg and KVAL in Eugene.

As an Emmy-nominated and Oregon Associated Press award-winning journalist, Meghan enjoys digging for the truth and sharing people’s stories. One of her most memorable stories was when she got "lost" in the Oregon wilderness alone at night, and showed viewers how to survive with the bare essentials.

When she is not hard at work, you might catch Meghan training for another half marathon, cooking or reading.
