Adam Ghassemi joined KATU News in June 2008, giving up the sugar-white beaches of the Gulf Coast for the Pacific Northwest. Before moving to Portland, Adam was smack dab in the middle of hurricane country covering national stories like Hurricane Katrina.

Adam is a native of Memphis, Tenn. and comes to KATU from WALA-TV in Mobile, Ala. He also previously worked in Duluth, Minn.

At Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, Adam earned degrees in Broadcast News and Information Systems. While in Des Moines, Adam worked for WHO Radio as a weekend anchor/reporter. Adam also interned for WHO Radio, WREG-TV in Memphis and ABC Network News.

Adam has earned regional awards from the Northwest Broadcast News Association and the Iowa Broadcast News Association as well as national awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Radio-Television News Directors Association.

In his time off, Adam enjoys exploring everything Portland and the Pacific Northwest has to offer with his wife, Crystal, and dog Kahlua.
