Who says you can't go home again? Susan was born and raised in Portland. After graduating from Wilson High School, she earned a journalism degree from the University of Oregon. She fell in love with the news business while still in high school, during a summer job working as a student newscaster for Portland's public radio station. Her first job in television news was at a cable station in Vancouver, WA, and then she went to Bend as an anchor and reporter. Susan's career path has taken her to Chico, CA, Springfield, MO and most recently to Nashville.

Susan is thrilled to be at KATU, and to be back in the beautiful Northwest. After living in other parts of the country, she has a deeper appreciation for her hometown. Not to mention a great appreciation for the local coffee shops and sensational seafood.

Her news career has taken her on special assignments to different parts of the nation from New York to Texas. Immediately following the space shuttle Columbia disaster, Susan flew to Nacogdoches, TX to cover the aftermath. From there, she reported live to a dozen stations across the nation, providing continual updates as it unfolded.

Susan was instrumental in starting a "Wednesday's Child" program in Springfield to bring attention to children needing adoption, or the services of Big Brothers/Big Sisters . She was also very involved with the local humane society and started a "Pet of the Week" feature for pet adoption.

When not anchoring and reporting, Susan loves to spend her free time with her husband, two children, and her many relatives who live in the Portland area. In the fall, you'll see them migrating south to Eugene to catch Duck football games.
