Melanie Wingo
Melanie Wingo joins KATU as a part-time general assignment reporter after having worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor at KGTV in San Diego.
Before moving to San Diego, Melanie worked for six years at Southern Oregon’s KDRV in Medford. While at KDRV, she anchored the early evening newscasts, and she anchored and co-produced the 11 o’clock broadcasts. Also during her time at the station, she worked as an overnight producer and morning show anchor. She got her start for the station as its Klamath Falls Bureau Chief.
Melanie began her career in television news on the East Coast; working as a weekend assignment editor and satellite coordinator for WJAR-TV in Providence, Rhode Island. She also worked as a production assistant and assignment desk assistant for WHDH-TV in Boston.
She graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
Melanie and her husband, KATU Investigative Reporter Thom Jensen, are proud parents who are happy to be back in Oregon raising their family. |
