Katy Brown is the Sports Director for KATU News. She joined the station in 1997 as weekend meteorologist and general assignment news reporter. However, her passion was always sports and she jumped at the chance to move into the department full time in 2001. When she was promoted to her current position in May 2005, she was the only female sports director at a top 25 network affiliate in the country.

Katy graduated summa cum laude from UCLA with a degree in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Business. She went on to earn her master’s degree in Journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. She also earned a Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.

Katy got her TV start at KRCR-TV, the ABC affiliate in Redding, California.

Off the air, Katy spends her free time running, doing yoga, skiing, hiking and playing golf and tennis. She became a dedicated runner when she moved to Oregon and has finished the Portland Marathon twice. Katy also loves to play the piano.
