Katy Brown is the Sports Director for KATU-TV.

Katy has won several awards over her career. Most recently, she was named Oregon Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association for 2009 and 2010. She also won the 2009 AP Award for Best Sportscast.

Katy graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from UCLA with a degree in Communication Studies and an emphasis on Business. She went on to earn a master’s degree in Journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. She also earned her Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University and received her meteorological seal from the National Weather Association.

Katy started her TV career at KRCR-TV in Redding, CA. She made the jump to KATU-TV in 1997, arriving as the weekend meteorologist. But her first love was always sports and she jumped at the chance to move into the department full time in 2001. She started as weekend sports anchor and was promoted to sports director in 2005. At the time, she was the only woman sports director in a top-25 broadcast market in the nation.

Katy lives in Lake Oswego with her husband, Troy, their two teenage sons and toddler daughter.
