Komen Portland Race for the Cure
Christine McDonald, Executive Director for the Oregon and SW Washington Susan G. Komen for the Cure, told us a little about the history of the organization and the importance of the Komen Portland Rce for the Cure. Susan G. Komen for the Cure: • The Pacific Northwest has the some of the highest incidence rates of breast • With more than 21,000 uninsured women over the age of 40, Multnomah County has the highest number of uninsured women in the state. Many of these women are putting of life-saving screening such as mammograms. • Although Komen Oregon and SW Washington is able to help 6,500 women this year with mammograms, an additional 50,000+ women are eligible for these services and will not be screened. We can and must do more to increase our reach and provide life-saving breast cancer screening to the women of Oregon and SW Washington.
