Decoding Lance Armstrong's Body Language

Forget what he said, Lance Armstrong's body language during his interview with Oprah told a different story about how sorry he really was.  Behavioral Investigator Vanessa Van Edwards joined us to decode Lance Armstrongs non-verbal cues.

Then she stayed around to talk about how colors can affect everything from our behavior to our feelings.

You'll find more great information from Vanessa Van Edwards on her Science of People website and her Huffington Post column online.

Can colors affect your mood? Your productivity? Your appetite? The research says yes! Here are some of the most popular colors and what they mean:

Yellow

  • Yellow is the color of the sun, so it reminds us of joy, happiness and cheerfulness.
  • You see fast food restaurants use yellow a lot.

Green

  • Green is the color of nature. It refreshes us and symbolizes harmony, healing and money.
  • They say green is the easiest on the eyes, so it’s great to make your computer desktop green.

White

  • White represents innocence, purity, and perfection.
  • It is also seen as safe and sterile, so it’s a color used in hospitals as well.

Black

  • Black represents power, elegance, formality and mystery. If you want to be taken seriously wear this color, but all black could be taken as too mysterious.

Brown

  • -The color of stability, brown is also seen as masculine. If you’re a woman in a predominantly male workplace, wearing a chocolate brown suit can give you credibility.

Choosing the color of your office, your clothes or your desktop should not be taken lightly -- colors do affect our moods and productivity. However, colors are not the only thing that affects us -- one can still be efficient in a grey suit or workout well in a black outfit. But, when given the choice, picking a color that will work with you, and not against you can only help.
