FANtastic Chicken Wings
 
3 pounds cleaned and separated chicken wings (you can use frozen but fresh is better), pat dry
 
Sauce:
 
1-1/2 cups brown sugar
3/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium or regular)
1/2 Jack Daniel's (water or orange juice work well too)
1/3 cup white vinegar
2 tsp finely chopped fresh ginger
3 large cloves minced garlic
1/2 tsp chili flakes
 
Combine all sauce ingredients in small sauce pan and heat just until sugar is completely dissolved.  Let cool slightly.  Put chicken wings in 9x13 pan (glass or metal) and pour sauce over wings.   Cover with plastic wrap and let marinate for at least two hours, basting often.  Do not drain marinade - cook uncovered in preheated oven at 375 degrees for about two hours until golden brown.  Turn wings in pan several times during cooking so they are evenly coated with sauce.  If there is too much juice near the end of cooking, drain some off and return to the oven so they will brown.  Can be made ahead and put in crock pot on warm.
