In the Garden with Mike Darcy

Planning for flowers in the spring? Better get started now! Mike Darcy shows us exactly how to do it this morning:

Fill a large glazed pot (not clay as it will crack in the winter) 1/3 of the way with potting soil.
Place several daffodil bulbs close together in the center of the pot.
    Next, plant red tulip bulbs.
Add more soil on top of the daffodil and tulip bulbs to cover them.
Now plant hyacynth bulbs with all bulbs pointing upward.
    Add more soil.
Plant crocus bulbs around the edge of the pot.
To add color while you wait for the bulbs to grow, place blooming pansies along the top. These will look good in the pot until the bulbs start to bloom right through the pansy plants. Clean out pansy plants as you see necessary.
Make sure you water the pot all winter and your bulbs will bloom all spring!

NOTE:Bulbs that aren't firm aren't healthy! Don't plant bulbs that are not firm!
Watch In the Garden with Mike Darcy on Sundays, 9-10pm, only on KATU 2.
