You’re ready for a summer vacation and traveling with baby. Not sure what to bring with you or what to expect? Here are some tips and a list of the best items to have in your travel bag so that you’re as stress free as possible!
Must-Haves:
- Extra clothing for you and baby that’s easy to slip on and off incase things get messy
- Extra diapers – bring a little more than enough to get you to your destination
- Extra wet wipes
- Bibs to keep baby clean during feedings
- Waterproof Changing Pads/Cloths
- Hand Sanitizer
- Diaper Creme
- Infant Tylenol Drops or Benadryl
- Food – bottles of milk or formula and baby food if eating solids
- Dish Soap & Bottle Brush
- Large size ziplock bags for dirty diapers or wet clothes etc.
- Baby’s favorite toys
- Receiving Blanket/Swaddle (to use for nursing, laying baby on or swaddling)
- Nursing – bring your breast pump (check it in)
- Make sure all liquid content of 3+ ounces is in a ziplock plastic bag before you reach the security gate.
- Use your baby sling or infant seat/travel stroller if you decide not to hold baby in your lap. You can have your child in your lap up to 2 years of age. At 40 lbs they can use the regular plane seat.
- Use a bottle or a pacifier when you start to ascend & descend in the plane....it will help baby’s ears not plug up.
- Try to carry-on everything in one bag even your wallet & make up so it’s easy to access
- Remember you have to carry baby through the security line too so travel light. Wear shoes & jacket that slip on and off easily.
- Arrive 30-40 mins earlier than you need to because you’ll have more luggage to check-in and this will give you some extra time.
