Gear Up for New Year's Resolutions

Have trouble sticking to your New Year's resolutions?  Psychologist Michael Friedrichs, Ph.D., joined us with some steps to take to make 2011 the year you achieve your goals.

 KEEPING NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS
I    Pick only ONE resolution, the most important one - then break it up into manageable pieces that can serve as goals.
II    Change your environment to one that affirms your new goal.
III    Ask for help from friends and professionals.
IV    Focus on relapse prevention.  Don’t give up.  Get back on track. Making a mistake is not an excuse to abandon your goal.  Stop with the self-abuse and just get back on track.  This should help you be in the 20% of people who report success with their New Years Resolutions!
