How You Can Help Fight Childhood Obesity

Dr. Roger Muller, Senior Medical Director for United Healthcare of Oregon, joined us today to talk about United Healthcare's exciting grant project to help end childhood obesity and diabetes. Dr. Adriana Voss-Andreae, a fellow of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Ladder to Leadership “Go Food!” team also joined us to talk about how the team submitted the UnitedHealth Heroes grant comprised of  fellows from seven organizations: Oregon Mentors, North by Northeast Clinic, Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon, Oregon Office on Disability and Health, Educational Opportunities for Children and Families, Portland Community Reinvestment Initiatives Inc., and Janus Youth Programs.


Dr Muller's top 5 recommendations to fight childhood obesity:

1) Get up and move!

2) Don't super-size it

3) Involve children in food prep

4) Cut sugar, soda, snacks

5) Family sports outings
