With critical needs on the rise, hundreds of volunteers are stepping up to help. To tap into this volunteer surge, Hands On Greater Portland is teaming up with Comcast to mobilize 1,700 volunteers on Saturday, April 30, during the Comcast Cares Day.
Volunteers will paint public schools, recover library books, sort donated food and school supplies, tend community gardens and meet other critical needs in the community. Theressa Davis from Comcast shared that Comcast is mobilizing 800 employees volunteers during Cares Day in the Portland area. Nationally, Comcast will mobilize 50,000 employee volunteers in 37 states on the day.
This marks the 10th anniversary of Comcast Cares Day. Over the years, Cares Day has mobilized more than 10,000 volunteers, generating close to $1 million in volunteer support for the community.
