Oscar Nominated Animator Bill Plympton

Bill Plympton is an ward winning animator, former cartoonist, director, screenwriter and producer best known for his 1987 Academy Award-nominated animated short Your Face. and his series of shorts Guard Dog, Guide Dog, Hot Dog and Horn Dog. Plympton turned down a 7-figure offer from The Walt Disney Company to animate Aladdin (1992) because any ideas he developed while under contract with them would become their intellectual property.
Bill joined us today to talk about his new film Idiots and Angels and the short The Cow Who Wanted to Be a Hamburger.
While in Portland, Bill will also sign copies of his new Rizzoli Press book Independently Animated: Bill Plympton at Powell's Books, at 1005 West Burnside St. on Monday, July 18 from 7:30 to 9 pm.
