Friends of the Children

Friends of the Children is a revolutionary mentoring program that is transforming the lives of Portland’s most vulnerable children. Their mission is to provide our most vulnerable children a nurturing and sustained relationship with a professional mentor who teaches positive values and has attainable expectations for each child to become healthy, productive members of the community.

Terri Sorensen, Executive Director of Friends of the Children Portland, and Mentor/Friend Gary Clemons along with 4th Grader Jamarius joined us to explain more about the organization and to tell us about their Back to School Supplies Drive.

Friends of the Children and KATU are proud to announce the Back to School Supplies Drive benefiting the nearly 375 under-served youth in our program who will be heading back to school this year. This year's drive begins today and will continue until August 31.

There are two locations accepting your generous donations of supplies:

Friends of the Children located at 44 NE Morris Street in Portland.

The Portland Children's Museum located at 4015 SW Canyon Road in Portland.
