Be a Volunteer Nature Guide

Metro’s Nature University is now accepting applications.  Metro's Nature University is a FREE 12-week training course that starts people along the path of becoming naturalists and teachers. Students are introduced to time-honored techniques of nature observation and principles of discovery learning, and learn about common wildlife and plants, the ecology of wetlands and ancient forests, and effective teaching techniques.

Janice Bangs met up with James Davis, Metro Naturalist, to find out what's involved in attending Nature University. Janice also spoke with Nature University Graduate Sue Percy about her experiences guiding students through nature walks.

To sign up or learn more visit news.oregonmetro.gov. Deadline for applications is Thanksgiving weekend.
