Helen's Book Club: Skeletons at the Feast

This month the book club read "Skeletons at the Feast" by Chris Bo-Jalian. It takes place during the last six months of World War II in Poland and the eastern edges of Germany as German refugees struggle westward ahead of the advancing Russian army.

Prussian aristocrat, Rolf Emmerich, and his two elder sons are sent into battle, while his wife flees with their other children and a Scottish POW who has been working on their estate. They meet up with a Jewish escapee from an Auschwitz-bound train, who survives by impersonating a German soldier and he becomes the group's protector. The story was inspired by an actual diary that a friend asked the author to read.

The new book club book is "Slummy Mummy" by Fiona Neill.

Stop by the station to pick up your copy of "Slummy Mummy" weekdays 9am-4pm. Join us for the next Book Club on August 12.
