Back to School Schedules

With the rush to get the kids back to school, it is easy to get overwhelmed this time of year!  To help us on this, "Feel Good Friday," self-esteem coach and author of "Feel Good Naked," Laure Redmond, joins us.

Laure's Tips

1. Create an evening routine that makes your morning run smoothly

Have the coffee machine prepared so that all you have to do is press "on." Pre-arrange your clothes. Coordinate the bathroom schedules of the people you live with. Have a lineup of several routine breakfasts, at least one of which is portable. Pre-pack your kids' lunches and backpacks and pre-pack your briefcase and/or purse.

2. Hang a large monthly calendar

Include all pre-scheduled activities for each family member and use a different colored pen for each person.

3. Sleep matters

Get on the right sleeping schedule. Not only will you feel more productive, but studies also prove that getting enough sleep helps your metabolism work more efficiently.

4. Commit to an after-work or before-work activity

Movement improves the function of your respiratory system and improves digestion. Exercise has emotional benefits as well, helping to alleviate depression, stress, anger, and anxiety. It can improve your memory, attention span and outlook on life, while also boosting your self-confidence.

5. Explore uncharted territory

The best way to feel inspired is to learn new things. Every weekend, choose a new activity to devote your free time to. Whether it’s creating art, cooking new foods or learning how to in-line skate – expand and express yourself!

6. Think constructively

Not everyday is a good day, but how you think about life’s challenges can greatly affect the outcome. What you think is what you attract. You must be able to let go of the past.

7. Stay on point

When you have more gut than butt, you’ve got a problem. To keep yourself in check, pay close attention to your appearance, check your weight once a week and practice portion control.

8. Choose awareness

Become aware of your habits, feelings and thoughts. You can loosen the grip of chaos and stress in your life through heightened attention, moment by moment.
