Project Pooch

Project POOCH has been successfully pairing youths incarcerated at the MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility with shelter-less dogs for about 15 years. Teens act as trainers, groom, and take care of the dogs until permanent homes can be found for them.  When the dogs leave the program they are able to be great pets, and their trainers are able to re-enter the community with new found skills and confidence.  Project Pooch is a non-profit organization helping troubled youth and animals alike.   More information about the program or making a donation can be found on their website.

You can vote for Joan Dalton, Project POOCH Founder and Director, for Animal Planet's 2008 Hero of the Year!  Voting begins September 29th and runs through October 13th.  Be sure to vote and spread the word. The winner receives $10,000 for their organization!  Vote Now.
