Build A Better Budget

The economic slow down has most of us feeling the financial pinch. Business Editor from the "Columbian," Julia Anderson shows us some simple ways to track our spending.  By creating a household budget, and sticking to it, you can ease your money worries.  She suggests going for the easy stuff first.  Write down your average monthly expenses: power, telephone, cable, insurance, car payments, mortgages, etc.  Calculate other expenses by looking at your debit card statements, discover how much you are spending on gas and groceries.  After you have calculated your necessities, look at your monthly total.  Then ask yourself, are you spending more than you make?  If you are, make adjustments and cut costs, creating room for long term spending.
