The Cellist of Sarajevo

Inspired by the actions of a real cellist during the siege of Sarajevo, THE CELLIST OF SARAJEVO begins when a musician watches from his window as twenty-two of his friends and neighbors are killed in a mortar attack while standing in line to buy bread.  In an act of defiance, the man picks up his cello and decides to play at the site of the attack for 22 days in their memory.

The author, Steven Galloway, will have a book signing tonight at 7:30 at Powell's City of Books located at 1005 W Burnside.
