Singer/Songwriter Katie Melua!

Katie Melua is a unique and remarkable vocalist/guitarist known and loved for singing open-hearted ballads. She continues her extraordinary journey with the release of her third album, Pictures, an album that delighted her legion of fans and received wide critical acclaim upon its release in the UK. 

Since the release of Katie’s debut album Call Off The Search in 2003, the 24 year old has achieved astonishing success.  With the help of lead track, “Closest Thing to Crazy,” she shot to the top of the UK album charts and became the biggest selling female artist for the next two years in Britain.  Katie followed up with the critically acclaimed Piece By Piece in 2005, spawning the hit single, “Nine Million Bicycles.”  In December 2007, Katie topped the charts with a duet with her idol, the late Eva Cassidy, entitled “What A Wonderful World”, with proceeds from the single going to support the UK work of the British Red Cross. Having sold more than 10 million albums to date, Katie is currently, Europe’s biggest selling female solo artist. No mean feat for a singer on an independent record label and one who goes about her business quietly avoiding media hoopla and industry trappings.

Born in Georgia (former USSR) in 1984, Katie lived in Belfast for five years before settling in South East London. She has met and played for Nelson Mandela in South Africa visiting his AIDS charity, has a Dutch tulip named in her honor, has become a hard working ambassador for Save The Children and picked up various prestigious awards within Europe, including a World Music Award, Golden Camera Award, and two German Echo Awards.
