Bike to Work

More than 180 Lloyd District bicyclists will kick off the summer cycling season at the annual Bike-to-Work Celebration. The party takes place on Friday, May 15th from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at Oregon Square (south of NE Holladay Street between 7th & 9th Avenues) in conjunction with the League of American Bicyclists’ National Bike-to-Work Week (May 11-15). This year’s featured speaker will be Joe Kurmaskie.  Best known as the “Metal Cowboy” and described as “Mark Twain on two wheels” by USA Today, Joe is a bestselling author, journalist, educator and enthused bicyclist.  After pedaling over 110,000 miles across the world, Joe has collected a lifetime of stories and inspiration to share.  There will be a complimentary continental breakfast and door prizes.

Bike Commute Day is organized by the Bike Committee of the Lloyd Transportation Management Association (LTMA), a non-profit business association that works to increase commute and access options for Lloyd employers and employees.  The TMA’s programs reduce commute trips and result in improved air quality, increased capacity for customer and visitor trips, and a more livable and vital business district.
