Host Families Needed: Cultural Homestay International

Cultural Homestay International (CHI) is a non-profit public benefit organization founded in 1980 to promote international understanding, friendship, and goodwill through cultural homestays. We believe that the best way to eliminate fear and prejudice among nations is to experience directly the cultures, languages, and customs of the peoples by living with them.

At this time we need host families in Washington County  and Oregon City area to host students from China from July 14th to July 26th, 2009.

The host families are responsible for the student's room and board. They are also responsible, in cooperation with the Teacher Coordinator, for the student's transportation to and from the Study Center where the classes are held; which is done by carpooling or the trimet bus sytem.  (Car pooling and a variety of other contributions to CHI are tax deductible).

Also, we are looking for host families to accept highshool students into thier homes for 5- 9 months during the upcoming school year in Oregon, Washington and throughtout the USA.

These students will have the opportuinty to learn more about American Culture and you will learn about their culture.  In fact, if you have children learning a language you may want to host a student who speaks the language yoru chilsd is learning.

However, you do not need to have children at home and you can be a single to host a student. Also, you are welcome to host 2 students at the same time.
