Hawaiian Dream Vacations

Candice Kraughto, of Starwood Hawaii told us aobut the great deals to be had at fabulous hotels and resorts all over Hawaii.

o NOW is the perfect time to plan your “Endless Summer Escape” to Hawaii.  Starwood Hotels & Resorts Hawaii has 11 properties across the Hawaiian island archipelago of Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island under the Sheraton, Westin, Luxury Collection and St. Regis brands.
o We have 4 hotels on Oahu, 3 on Maui, 3 on Kauai and 1 resort on the Big Island.
o Direct flights on Hawaiian Airlines are so convenient and inexpensive – a round trip is running about a little over $400 for summer and for Fall.
o Room rates have never been so attractive either.  Starwood Hawaii has room rates starting as low as $160 a night.
o You have an even better reason to travel this summer or even in the fall…Starwood Hawaii just launched the Endless Summer Escape promotion on Monday.  If you book any Endless Summer Escape room rate at a Starwood hotel or resort in Hawaii from now through September 22nd with travel completed by the end of the year, Starwood will donate 3% of the daily room rate to the United Way’s Road to Recovery campaign and the Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women and Children.
o With guest room rates start at $160 a night and no minimum night stay, your vacation in Hawai‘i is a win for you and your family and a win for worthy non-profit organizations in Hawai‘i and the U.S. mainland.
o You could stay at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa on Kaanapali Beach…a gorgeous resort that extends over 12 oceanfront acres.  The Westin Maui has an award-winning 87,000 square foot aquatic playground with five free form swimming pools, hidden Jacuzzi, waterslides, meandering waterways through fern grotto and waterfalls and an adult-only pool at the top.
o The Westin Maui also offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean from its 15,000 square foot Heavenly Spa by Westin.  My favorite spa treatments there incorporate lavender grown from the hills of upcountry Maui in Kula (where Oprah owns land).
o The Westin Maui Resort & Spa also has a Director of Romance onsite whose job is it to help guests plan romantic adventures or experiences whether it’s dinner under the stars, picnic and proposal or a beachfront wedding.  One couple actually jumped into the pool after they said their vows.
o There’s so much more to experience in Hawaii than just one island though.  The Royal Hawaiian, a Luxury Collection Resort on the island of Oahu just reopened 6 months ago after a $60 million renovation.  The famed “Pink Palace of the Pacific” is again an enclave for extraordinary experiences.  When you walk into The Royal, you feel like you’re walking onto a page in history.  There’s absolutely no other resort in Hawaii like The Royal.  The resort has the best beachfront location in Waikiki…it’s centrally located on Kalakaua Avenue, but has a beautiful Coconut Grove gardens which separates it from the bustling city street.  The reopening of The Royal has brought renewed glamour to Waikiki and has already played host to numerous celebrities (Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls was a guest last week, Jeff Goldblum enjoyed tropical cocktails at the Mai Tai Bar, Eddie Vedder, Mena Suvari, Dave Annable, Tia Carrere were among other stars just in over the last few months).
o You may want to also travel over to the Big Island.  Inter-island airfare has been very inexpensive over the last 2 years.  You can book a R/T inter-island ticket for as little as $60 to $80 per person.  Our Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa sits right at the entrance of Keauhou Bay, the birthplace of King Kamehameha the Great who unified the Hawaiian islands.  It’s the perfect resort for families, the hotel sprawls over 22 oceanfront acres with a huge fantasy pool that winds around throughout the property, a waterslide, tennis courts, an expansive lawn where a Hawaiian hula school practices weekly.  One of the signature activities at the resort is a night-time manta ray dive.  I’m the leisurely type though so I like to watch the manta rays swim up to the edge of the resort while I’m sipping a mai tai at the oceanfront Crystal Blue lounge.
o Hop over to the island of Kauai…one of my favorite Starwood Hawaii resorts is the Sheraton Kauai Resort.  It’s so relaxing, so quiet, the dark sky is filled with stars and you go to sleep listening to the ocean waves.  The Sheraton Kauai Resort overlooks Poipu Beach, a breathtaking stretch of sand.  The resort hosts a weekly presentation on the endangered Hawaiian monk seal because monk seals frequently haul out on the sand to sun themselves and sleep.
o Next month the Sheraton Kauai Resort is hosting a hoolaulea - a special weekend event featuring ono (delicious) Hawaiian food, music and dance.
o All of the main Hawaiian islands will be celebrating with Aloha Festivals in September.  By October and November you’ll start to see humpback whales in the waters surrounding our islands.
o Visit endlesssummerescape.com to plan your rewarding vacation to Hawaii!
o One lucky AM Northwest viewer will get to visit us on Maui later this year! We want to give away a free trip for two on Hawaiian Airlines to fly from Portland to Maui to enjoy a rejuvenating 4 nights stay in an oceanview room at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa.
