Music for the Heart with Tom Grant

Music of the Heart was founded in 2005 by Dr. Jeffrey Pentecost, a heart specialist at OHSU, to raise money for heart research and increase public awareness about heart disease, the leading cause of death in the US.
Dr. Pentecost, who studied music before his medical career, believes that music has a unique power to transform our lives in positive ways and he wants to use that power to help solve the greatest health risk this country faces. Now in its 5th year, Music for the Heart produces first-rate musical concerts and has featured artists of high acclaim such as Dave Brubeck and The New Christy Minstrels.
To date, “Music for the Heart” has donated over $100,000 to the OHSU Heart Research Center for funding of seed grants and equipment. Its annual goal is to donate $250,000 to heart research. OHSU Heart Research Center is its current beneficiary, but it will extend to other programs in the future.
“Music for the Heart” is expanding to involve an educational program for school-age children and is developing a service to provide funds for children undergoing heart surgery.
TOM GRANT and MICHAEL ALLEN HARRISON, two of Portland's most-loved piano artists, will perform for Music for the Heart's 5th annual benefit concert at The Tiffany Center on December 11th, 7:30pm. For more information or tickets click here.
