Ease Your Holiday Stress

Laure Redmond, self-esteem coach and author of Feel Good Naked, joined us to share her tips for cutting down on holiday stress:

  1. Give a Little. Give a lot. Just give:  to someone less fortunate then you. Involve the whole family. If you’re out of money, there’s always blood.
  2. Refocus your priorities:  only give gifts that matter, not those that create more excess.
  3. Don’t gain weight:  only splurge when out to dinner or attending a party. While at home and at work, make only smart choices-- no cookies, candy or naughty snacks.
  4. If a contentious topic comes up, agree to schedule a time to get on the phone or meet in person next month.
  5. Step out in your own style:  Whether it’s cowboy boots and jeans or a fancy black dress, be who you really are and have fun with accessories.
  6. Lift your spirits in 15 minutes with a hot aromatherapy shower or bath.
  7. Do something you’ve never done before during the holidays:  Whether it’s making gumbo, ice skating, dancing, skiing or baking, make it creative and new.
  8. Realize the value of “no”:  if it doesn’t truly feed your spirit, don’t go; stay home and relax
