Personal Trainer & Winner of Ms. Pro. Natural Physique. Oct 3, ‘09, Val Worrell ,joined us to give us a little inspiration to get fit in 2010.

Here are her tips:

HOW TO BE INSPIRED TO EXERCISE AND STAY FIT

  1. Be accountable to someone: your personal trainer or train with a friend.
  2. Every 6 months train for an event ( a run/walk 3 or 5 miles; ½ marathon)
  3. Accept a challenge to lose a certain amount of body fat% by a given date.
  4. Set realistic, specific, and comfortably reachable goals to become fit and healthy.
  5. Each year choose a NEW ‘active’ hobby. Kayaking, snowshoeing, hiking etc.

 BENEFITS OF EXERCISE:  

  • Stress buster
  • more energy
  • feel and look younger and sexier
  • eliminates pain
  • improves balance
  • builds strength
  • supports fat loss

WHAT TO DO: 

  • At least 20 minutes of strength training 2 to 3 times per week
  • 20 to 30 minutes of cardio ( walking, running, biking) 3 times per week.
  • Nutrition: 6 small meals daily, including breakfast to boost your metabolism.

6 MINUTE MORNING WORKOUT TO GET YOU STARTED:

  1. V-SIT: For core: to keep the ABS tight and hip flexors strong.  (1min)
  2. PLANK:  For core: strengthens ABS and back. Helps eliminate back pain. (1min)
  3. WALL SIT: Strengthens Legs and knees. (1min)
  4. PUSH UPS (knees or toes): Strengthen and tone upper body. (3 sets of 10)
  5. JUMP ROPE, SIDE JUMPS OR SPOT RUN: to strengthen the heart. (1min)
  6. STRETCH: Lying hip-crossover stretch ( 30 seconds on each side )
