Commercial Break Workout

Fitness expert, Beth Oliver, joined us today with inspiration to keep us on task with our fitness resolutions and to show how easy it is to work in a workout during commercial breaks!

Here is what Beth has to say:

Did you start a fitness routine for your News Years Resolution?  Sometimes we get frustrated a few weeks into things because we haven't seen results yet, and that's one of the reasons we start to "Skip-it" and before to long we've lost sight of our goals. 

So just a little reminder that it will take a good 6 weeks before something becomes a habit and before you start seeing external results.  So here are a few things that are starting to change without you even knowing it…and these are all great benefits of regular exercise!

  • Manage stress
  • Lower resting heart-rate
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Help increase HDL's
  • Set a good example for your family
  • Sleep better
  • In the process of "re-setting" your habits
  • Increased bone density
  • Increased energy
  • Expending energy ( burning calories)

And even if you don't have a lot of time, you can do a little mini-workout in the next commercial break!


It's called "The Trifecta Workout" -- 3 exercises, 3 ways:

Set 1: You do the upper body 10x, then the lower body 10x, then put the two together 10x
Move on to set 2
Move on to set 3
 
Repeat as many times as you can during the commercial break.
 
Set 1:

  • Chest press with thera band
  • Squat
  • Squat with Chest Press
  • Repeat other side

Set 2:

  • Tri-cep extension with Thera-band
  • Lunge
  • Lunge with tri-cep extension
  • Repeat other side 

Set 3:

  • Row with Thera band
  • Standing 1 leg balance
  • standing 1 leg balance with row
  • Repeat other side
