Johnson Creek Watershed Council’s Watershed Wide Event

Here's a way to volunteer and help restore creekside habitat:

  • Johnson Creek Watershed Council’s Watershed Wide Event
  • Saturday, March 6, 2010
  • 9am-12pm work parties; 12-1:30pm volunteer appreciation lunch

Join the Johnson Creek Watershed Council, our partners and over 350 volunteers for the 12th annual Watershed Wide Event. There will be 12 restoration sites throughout the watershed where volunteers will help remove invasive plants and plant native trees and shrubs.  Sites are located along Johnson Creek from SE Portland to Gresham.  Individual volunteers and groups are welcome. Gather your family, coworkers, girl or boy scout troop, club, or friends together for a morning of rewarding work along Johnson Creek. A volunteer appreciation lunch will be provided following the work parties. Volunteers will complete important restoration work planting trees that will grow to shade the creek, providing cool water for the salmon and steelhead that return to spawn, and removing invasive weeds to clear the way for native shrubs that provide food and nesting sites for birds and other wildlife.  Advanced registration required, call 503-652-7477 or visit their website.
