Summer Makeup with Kami Gray
"Stress-Free, Sweat-Free Summer Makeup and Beauty Routine"
by Stylist, Kami Gray
One of these days, we’re actually going to have summer weather here in Portland so my tips today are to make sure us gals are armed and ready with the right tools.
When it comes to products and wearing makeup, less is more when it comes to your summer beauty regiman. Take a break from your heavier makeup routine and go for a more natural, stress-free, sweat-free beauty routine.
A Few Tips to Scale Back Your Routine:
Contrary to the notion of scaling back, this is actually when I step up my salon services. They make the daily maintenance part of my routine much easier and faster.
Recommended Beauty Products for Summer:
Blush/Bronzer: For a fresh, non-makeup, natural beach beauty look, use: Georgia Peach Finishing Powder by Benefit
Waterproof mascara: Cover Girl All-in-One Professional Mascara -- magnifies and defines eyes without looking overdone and clumpy, but in a waterproof, smudgeproof, go-all-day formula.
Tinted gloss: MAC Tinted Gloss. This one doesn't creep up to the area above your lip and make it look like you're sweating:
Eyeliner: Mac Fluidline Gel Eyeliner. Use a gel eyeliner that stays on and stays put. For the same reason that younger women love their dark eyeliner so they can look older, women over 40 who are aiming for a more youthful appearance might want to try the next product tip instead
Eyes -- a subtler look: Powder eyeliner applied very minimally after applying light, shimmery eye shadow - the shimmery affect is way less obvious when it gets stuck in creases. For Eyeliner: Revlon Perle Eye Shadow, Black Galaxy For Eyeshadow: Revlon Perle Eye Shadow, Lilac Shimmer
Face: Ditch the compact and foundation - instead use a sheer, slightly tinted moisturizer with sunblock and brush on translucent powder to minimize shine. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer Moisturizer and L'Oreal TRANSLUCIDE Naturally Luminous Powder,Translucent
Easiest Summer Look!
For an easy summer look when you're going to be outside -- apply sun protection, a little blush, some tinted gloss, skip the face and eye makeup altogether, and throw on a great pair of shades!
