Bookshelf Makeover

Jennifer Yarbrough, Redesign Specialist & Colorist, showed us how to make bookshelves look extra special -- simply by rearranging what you already have.

TIPS FOR DECORATING BOOKSHELVES:

  • Organize books by color -- especially if you are a visual person.
  • Stack book spines vertically & horizontally. Use horizontal stacks to elevate objects.
  • Consider balance & composition.  Avoid making top shelves too heavy.
  • Break up the monotony of books with framed photos, collectibles, vases, etc. Let the shelves tell a story of you.
  • Hide things you’d rather not see in baskets or decorative boxes. (i.e. paperbacks, gaming devices, CDs & DVDs, etc.)
