Chocolate Fest at the Oregon Convention Center!

Friday night’s event is for ages 21 and over and includes drink specials, voting opportunity for the Best in Show vendor, live music from Jake-Oken Berg Band and the Brian Copeland Band, along with an opportunity to win two round trip tickets on Spirit Airlines. The first 200 lucky attendees on Sunday will receive a pair of ChocolateFest socks courtesy of Sock Dreams.
An anticipated 70+ chocolate and chocolate-related exhibitors at ChocolateFest sample and sell some of the finest creations from the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Visitors will be tempted with luscious truffles, decadent brownies, heavenly fudge, creamy caramels, chocolate martinis and so much more.
New in 2012 is the Guittard Stage where cooking demonstrations, featuring chocolate as the main ingredient, will occur throughout the weekend. Attendees can sample both savory and sweet creations from local chefs including a demonstration on “Making Salted Almond Dark Chocolate Truffles” with Chef Jesse Jones of Simpatica Catering & Dining Hall, and “The Sweet (and Savory) Side of Chocolate” with Ben Witten, Resident Chef at Sur La Table featuring Minty Chocolate Melt-Aways and Roasted Parsnip Polenta Bites with Truffled Chocolate.
Additional presentations include learning about the cacao tree, how to make chocolate, and the pairing possibilities of chocolate with food and wine. Attendees will also have the chance to view a replica of the cacao tree, a unique tree which only grows in tropical rainforests that fall within 20 degrees north or south of the equator.
The event has grown to include exhibitors from around the country including Chocolate Roug from California, The Chocolate Conspiracy from Utah, Kallari Chocolate from Illinois and Taza Chocolate from Massachusetts. From the Northwest, multi-award winning Lillie Belle Farms based out of Central Point, Oregon - maker of the smokey blue cheese truffle and chocolate covered bacon; Sipping Dreams European Style Drinking Chocolate; Seattle based Theo Chocolate who boasts being the only organic, fair trade, bean-to-bar chocolate factory in the U.S.; and Leonidas Fresh Belgian Chocolates who will be making chocolate martinis for attendees to sample. Other non-edible vendors will also have a chocolate-themed showing of wares such as chocolate inspired jewelry and decadent chocolate face masks.
