Fall is the season to eat comfort food, bundle up and think cozy thoughts. Adding layers to keep warm doesn't mean that your wardrobe has to go all frumpy. Here are three fall looks that embrace some of the most popular trends of the season to keep you looking warm and fabulous.
1. Back to Color: Anyone can wear a good pair of slim cut skinnies and whether you go with corduroy, denim or twill, a great pair of colored skinnies can be dressed up and dressed down to fit all your fall occasions. Pair this with a blouse that has a Peter Pan collar and a nice trench coat to keep you dry for a feminine look. Choose some booties to keep your toes warm and to draw attention to your ankles, which will look slimmed down by the cut of the narrow pants.
2. Boots, Boots, Boots: Get a great pair of boots and show them off! I love boots with a little bit of a heel to give you that lengthening lift of a high heel, without all the pain. Choose a simple leather pair with little embellishment so you can get more use out of them; they are worth the investment. Pair your new found friends with a lace dress, a trend that has classic staying power, some thick tights, and a printed scarf.
3. Dressing up for Date Night: Date night is the perfect chance for you to try out a new fun look. One of the fanciest trends we are seeing this fall is the peplum top. The cut of these great tops accentuates a slim waist. They come in all different styles and you are bound to find one that works well for your body type. If you are a pear or an hourglass, a strong peplum is for you, but a ruler or apple should wear a softer shape. Grab a bold colored heel for a pop of color and some opaque tights to keep you warm while you are out on the town.
