Portland's Singing Christmas Tree presents an all‐new "Christmas Spectacular", with seven performances at the Keller Auditorium beginning November 30, 2013. Under the new management team headed by Director Wes Walterman and General Manager Scott Galloway, the two‐hour production showcases both contemporary and traditional holiday music performed by over 350 adult and youth choir voices, a live orchestra, dancers and local actors. The cinematic storyline and extravagant lighting are certain to delight the entire family, from young to young‐at‐heart. This year, high school choirs from Oregon and Southwest Washington have been invited to join the Portland's Singing Christmas Tree onstage to sing a medley of holiday songs, one school for each of the seven performances. Says Walterman, "The Tree has a long‐standing tradition of giving back to our community, from Doernbecher Children's Hospital to Portland Rescue Mission and The Salvation Army. This year, we're giving back to the youth of our public high schools, whose extra‐curricular programs continue to be affected by budget cuts. We are excited to have these talented choirs and their directors take part in this year's performances, and are pleased to make a financial donation to each school's music education program." Choirs from Evergreen and
Mountain View High Schools (Vancouver), Oregon City High School, Sherwood High School, Rex Putnam High School (Milwaukie), Clackamas High School, and David Douglas and Centennial High Schools (Portland), are this year's participants.
