SIX Finger Foods for Easy Entertaining

Wondering what finger foods to have on hand for your late night New Year's Eve gathering? Our Foodie Mom and Lifestyle expert, Elisha Joyce, showed Helen the SIX must have finger foods for your New Year's Eve celebration... and a creative way for bringing it all to the table.

Start off: There's a couple general tips to follow when serving finger foods:
1) Choose items that can be eaten room temperature.
2) Choose items that are easily replenishable.
3) Go for variation in serve wear, but stick to WHITE plates. (Food always looks better on white.)

The food Elisha considers a MUST on any party table:

1) Cheeses (a variety of flavors)
2) Dried fruits (figs, dates)
3) Nuts (almonds, walnuts, spicy or sweet)
4) Salami (variety)
5) Fruit (granny smith apples, grapes, red pears)
6) Something marinated (olives, peppers, etc)

The goal is for the food to be appetizing all night long. So, stay away from baked items (like baked brie), or massive bowls of dip. (If you're going to serve a dip, serve it in ramakin-sized portions and then replace entire bowl as needed.)

We showed how easy it is to whip up a homemade herbed goat cheese.  Here's the recipe:

1 small log of plain goat cheese
2 TBSP fresh curly parsley
1 tsp fresh rosemary
1 tsp fresh thyme
1 tsp lemon zest
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tsp black pepper

Rough chop all the herbs very fine. Add herbs, lemon zest, salt and pepper together on a plate and, using fingers, blend thoroughly.Spread herb mixture evenly on plate and then carefully roll goat cheese log to cover outside of cheese. Serve.
