Strategies for PREVENTING Obesity in Your Child

Seventy-five percent of childhood obesity presents in the first few years. Pediatrician Dr. George Bengtson shared how parents can help prevent early childhood obesity.

1) Eat together as a family. Some crazy percentage of American meals (20+%) are eaten in a CAR!
2) Eat the same stuff. That is, don’t “custom cook” junky stuff to accommodate the selective eater.
3) Watch portion sizes – start w/ portions that seem “smaller than usual”, then ponder point #4 below.
4) Train kids early to eat until they’re no longer hungry, not until they’re full.
