Women & Heart Disease

It's the leading killer of women.  We're talking about heart disease and February marks American Heart Month.    Providence Cardiologist Suzanne Hall joined us to share the facts about women and heart disease, along with her patient Julie Reid, who suffered a heart attack at the age of 43.  Julie knew the symptoms of a heart attack, but it still took her two days to see a doctor.

Knowing the signs and symptoms of heart problems like angina and heart attack could save your life or the life of someone you know:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Weakness
  • Unusual fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Lower chest discomfort
  • Upper abdominal pressure or discomfort that may feel like indigestion
  • Back pain

If you believe you're having heart attack symptoms, dial 911 right away for an ambulance to take you to the emergency room. Don't wait, as any delay in treatment can lead to more loss of heart muscle.
