Bryce Black, originally from Twin Falls, Idaho, began his passion for fashion design as a child. He created clothes for his sister’s Barbie dolls using countless materials, from toilet paper to socks. He was educated at The Art Institute of Portland, receiving his degree in Apparel Design in 2011. During his senior year, Black received praise for his work. He was a finalist for The Humane Society's and The Art Institute's Cool vs. Cruel fashion design contest, his senior collection was featured in Portland Monthly Magazine, and he won the Studio SKB Designer Launch, where he was able to design several collections and act as head designer. A month after graduation, Black found himself auditioning for Project Runway and he became one of 20 contestants on season nine. On Project , Black placed 9th and was able to design a “decoy” collection for New York Fashion Week, which received national acclaim.
These days, Black can be found working SE Portland. He still keeps busy with custom work for select clients, designing a knit wear collection for Studio SKB and working on his own brand which will be launched next year.
