Northern Lights come out to play in Northwest
Most of Mother Nature's shows lately have been focused on the dazzling lightning displays, but Act II took over Saturday night as the skies lit up with the Northern Lights.
Sightings were reported in Lyman, Friday Harbor, Sahale Glacier and even further south, with a display caught over Sparks Lake in central Oregon by Brad Goldpaint.
Wade B. Clark took photos from Lyman, just east of Sedro-Woolley.
"FINALLY got to see the northern lights again! Not much visually, but some interesting colors in the photos," Clark said.
He said the photos were taken between midnight and 1:10 a.m.
And photographer Chris Teren of Teren Photograpy not only got photos, but time lapse video of the event from Friday Harbor:
And Luke Humphrey was up at Sahale Glacier in the North Cascades when the aurora put on a display. Watch as we also get a bit of lenticular cloud activity over the mountain peaks:
According to Spaceweather.com, at first the solar storm appeared weaker than forecast, but a second wave later in the night added some power to the solar storm and the aurora energized, with sightings as far south as Oregon and California.

Those photos are gorgeous. Seeing the Northern Lights is at the top of my bucket list.
I have never personally seen the Northern Lights, though I would love to. Â These pictures are amazing. Â Do the hues really show this brightly? Â I guess I'm wondering if the pics are untouched or have they been "digitally enhanced" (AKA Altered) to make them look bolder and brighter? Â This is not me alleging that they are enhanced, it's just me asking if they are because It's difficult for me to believe the Aurora could be this beautiful and photogenic. Â But, like I said, I've never seen it firsthand so I don't know.
