PORTLAND, Ore. – A man armed with a handgun robbed a Southeast Portland adult video store on Thursday morning, police said.

The clerk told police the man came into Paradise Adult Video around 7:30 a.m. and demanded money.

The store has multiple security cameras that caught the suspect in the act. Employee Alex Mick was working the register at the time.

"At first I thought it was my co-workers Antonio because they're the same height. I thought it was a joke," he said. "Until he came a little closer and I saw the gun in his hand."

Mick said he knew things were very serious when the suspect cocked his handgun.

"For a second I thought it looked plastic, but then when he pulled the hammer back and cocked it, that's when I was like 'ok, I'm not going to question it,'" Mick said.

The suspect took the cash from the register then left the store, according to Sgt. Pete Simpson. He was last seen running eastbound on Stark away from the store.

Simpson said the suspect is a white man in his 20s or 30s with a slight build. He was wearing a mask, a blue or green jacket and jeans.

"He had clear reading glasses on underneath the paintball mask," Mick said. "I could see square, almost like silver wire frames."

Officers with a police dog searched the neighborhood but didn’t find anyone who matched the suspect’s description.

If you know anything about this robbery Simpson said you can call detectives at (503) 823-0405.
