Blue Lake's health advisory lifted

FAIRVIEW, Ore. – A health advisory for Blue Lake has been lifted after an algae bloom spotted there earlier this week disappeared and tests came back clean.

The Oregon Department of Health had issued a health advisory for Blue Lake, located just outside Wood Village north of Interstate 84, on Monday for the second time in a little over a month.

Health officials advise folks who recreate in water bodies to always be alert to signs of algae blooms. People and their pets should avoid contact if the water is foamy, scummy, thick like paint, pea-green, blue-green or brownish-red in color, or if a mat of algae is visible in the water.
