Body recovered from Johnson Creek, sheriff's office says

GRESHAM, Ore. – Multnomah County river patrol deputies recovered a man’s body from Johnson Creek early Saturday morning.

Lt. Steve Alexander said two people who were camping near the Springwater Trail started looking for their friend after they didn’t see him for a couple of days. They found his bicycle near the bank of Johnson Creek, saw something in the water and called 9-1-1 around 3 a.m., Alexander said.

Deputies found the man’s body in the water. The body was turned over to the medical examiner’s office and the cause of death was later determined to be drowning.

Investigators do not suspect foul play at this point, Alexander said.

The man’s name has not been released.
