Bomb squad called to Gresham Fred Meyer after bank robbery

GRESHAM, Ore. – A bomb squad investigated a suspicious item near a Gresham Fred Meyer after police said a man robbed a bank in the store Tuesday afternoon and left the item behind.

No one was hurt. The bomb squad cleared the scene at around 1:50 p.m. It's unclear what they found in the bag.

Gresham police said a man in his 70s robbed a Chase Bank, located at 2475 SE Burnside Road, and gave a teller a note indicating he had a bomb. The suspect left a bag near the main entrance to the Fred Meyer store.

The bank and the Fred Meyer store were evacuated as a precaution. The suspect has not been found.
