Rescuers suspend search for missing teen who jumped from bridge

KELSO, Wash. -- Authorities have suspended the search for a missing teenager who jumped off the Lexington Bridge near Kelso.

On Saturday, rescuers were searching the shoreline near the bridge and using boats and divers to search the Cowlitz River. They suspended the search in the evening after they said the fast-moving current and depth of water made diving extremely challenging.

Sixteen-year-old Alexander Rodriguez was last seen in the Cowlitz River Friday night, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office.

"It appears he may have been despondent due to personal issues," the sheriff's office's news release said.

Deputies said they are looking at suicide as a reason the person jumped.
