MILWAUKIE, Ore. – A man who was seriously injured when his motorcycle collided with a car last week has died, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s office said.

The driver of the car was cited for failing to yield the right of way, and careless driving.

Charles Horton III, 59, was thrown off his Harley Davidson motorcycle during the crash with a Kia Soul on Jennings Road near S.E. Addie Street in Milwaukie on Friday morning.

The driver of the Soul, Kathryn Gardner of Ridgefield, Wash., was not hurt.

Investigators determined that Gardener was headed east on Jennings Road and attempted to turn left onto Addie Street when her car collided with the motorcycle, which was headed west on Jennings, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Lt. Robert Wurpes. The crash knocked Horton off his motorcycle.

Medics took Horton to OHSU in Portland, where he later died.

Gardner cooperated with deputies during the investigation, Wurpes said.
