Man, 55, accused of beating three others with pipe
PORTLAND, Ore. – Police arrested a 55-year-old man who they said assaulted three other men with a pipe on Saturday.
Officers received a report of four men fighting near Northeast 2nd Avenue and Clackamas Street just after 10 a.m. They arrived to find three men who had been beaten with a pipe.
Police said the four men were drinking together by the freeway when they began to argue when the suspect, Michael David Oswald, began hitting the other men with a pipe.
None of the three victims was seriously hurt, police said.
Officers found Oswald trying to climb a fence behind the State Hospital. They arrested him and took him to the Multnomah County Jail.
Oswald faces three counts of assault in the second degree.

Sounds like he was trying to climb over a fence into the Mental Hospital. Maybe the police should have just given him a boost.

It sounds like he was trying to jump the fence into the Oregon State Hospital- Its an adjunct to the
Oregon Mental Health system. Or, people are sent there for their own safety or the safety of others.
He was headed the right direction. Its our version of the Hotel California (just think of the song).Â
He got beat with an ugly stick, so he retaliated with a pipe.
Another alcohol related assault. I wonder what the stats are concerning that? Lets make more intoxicants legal!
You commenters who jokingly wrote about banning pipes, intending such as a putdown to those who support a ban on the manufacturing and sale of semi-automatic assault weapons, don't get it. If this man had had a semi-automatic assault weapon at his disposal, this story might very well have been about 3 men killed, rather than 3 men who suffered non-serious injuries.Â

Pipes, knives, and even revolvers don't have the capacity to kill numerous people in a matter of minutes, if not seconds. Semi-automatic assault weapons with large ammo clips do!Â

What will it take to get you to sacrifice just a bit of your Second Amendment "rights" for the greater good, so that these mass killings might not repeatedly happen? Few people advocate for the banning of all firearms and few people want to take away your handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Are the victims in the Colorado movie theater shooting or the 20 young children and 6 adult victims in the Newtown tragedy just collateral damage in your minds? Well, just keep in mind that they could have been your wives/husbands, children, friends or neighbors - it is just a matter of chance where these incidents occur.

So do explosives, chemicals, and other various large objects (i.e. cars, planes, etc..) would you rather have these bozos using one of those, because they WILL.  They Do NOT care about your life, my life, or anyone's life for that matter, including their own. NOTHING will deter these people from wreaking havoc and mayhem aside from being subdued and dealt with.

The criminals don't care about LAWS. Especially when they are intent on taking their own lives, which most of these guys are.  They don't care if an assault weapon is illegal or not, or if their 30-round clip is illegal or not, nor will they ever.  You argue that this will make them more difficult for them to get them.  That is TOTAL rubbish.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if there is a demand for something, legal or illegal, the supply will turn up.  If you don't believe that, well, you are just being naive.

Well Like I said, forget guns..there not the issue, this person used a pip..So the core issue is not guns but what doe we do with the violent people that use weapons of all kinds..
