Woman stabbed while trying to help her roommate

PORTLAND, Ore. - Police say a man accused of stabbing a woman at a northeast Portland apartment is the estranged husband of the woman's roommate.

The crime happened around 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Parkway Gardens Apartments at 14202 N.E. Sandy Boulevard.
 
Police say the man went to the apartment and assaulted his wife and then stabbed the roommate when she intervened. The victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover.
 
The man fled but was later located and arrested. James Lee Moultrie, 23, was booked on charges of second-degree assault, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy. Investigators say Moultrie sexually assaulted his wife during the attack.
